What to Expect

Bibles

Welcome to GracePoint!

Our church is passionate about helping people meet Jesus and grow in their faith in Him. That is why our mission is to connect real people with the real God. We do this by emphsizing five core values: God's Word, worship, prayer, loving community and putting our faith into action. When you spend a few weeks with us, you will see those values at the heart of our church family. We look forward to meeting you in person!

Sunday Morning

Our church family is comprised of young and old. Dress tends to be business-casual, but there is always a mixture of ties, blue jeans and shorts. We have one worship service at 10:30 am on Sunday morning. We also offer a children’s church option for ages 3-5th grade that is available after the singing. We can provide nursery care for infants through toddlers in selected services. A variety of classes are offered at 9:15 am for children and adults before the worship service. Keep reading to learn more about what to expect. We look forward to meeting you!

Classes (9:15 am)

We provide Sunday school classes for all ages. For ages K-5th grade, we typically work through Truth:78 curriculum (formerly Children Desiring God). Our 6th through 10th grade students have started a 3 year overview to ground students in their faith, including Bible survey, church doctrine, worldviews, and apologetics. 11th and 12th grades are included in the adult class. Our adult offerings shift each quarter.

Between classes and the service, we encourage individuals to enjoy conversation and a cup of coffee in a large room that we call the Fellowship hall. We do have a welcome booth in the fellowship hall, so we encourage you to visit the welcome booth to learn more about our church community.

Worship Services (10:30 am)

Worship service is about seventy minutes in length with approximately thirty minutes of praise and prayer and forty minutes of preaching. Our worship time includes singing, reading of the Scripture and prayer. We do not pass an offering plate, but we do have a box in the back of the auditorium for people to contribute. Our music is a blend of old and new and we use a variety of instruments to aid us in our praise of God. We aim to sing songs that turn us toward God, are full of theological truth, and exalt Jesus Christ.

We offer a Children’s Church for children ages 3-5th grade. These children start out in the worship service with their parents. Toward the end of the musical worship time, there will be a message on the screen that says “Lil’ Praisers are dismissed.” The children head for Children’s Church at that point, and parents are welcome to go with them to help them get settled. And of course, if you would rather keep your child with you for the whole service, that is fine too!

Typically, one of our pastoral staff or elders will preach from the Bible. Our typical practice is to teach through a book of the Bible from beginning to end by examining the original meaning of the text and how it applies in our lives today. Periodically, we will do a topical series.

On the first Sunday each month, we celebrate the Lord’s table (communion). We use grape juice and bread as a remembrance of Jesus Christ giving his life for each of us. We practice open communion, so anyone who has professed faith in Jesus Christ is welcome to partake.

Wednesday Evening

Wednesday evening is a hub of activity at GracePoint during the school year. You will find activities geared for children, youth and adults. During the summer, we typically have a different schedule so please consult our events calendar for details.

Meal (5:30 pm)

We offer a meal that is open to the public at 5:30 pm each Wednesday. Please come for a time of fellowship and connecting with others in the church. Questions? Feel free to contact the church office or just show up!

AWANA (6 pm)

AWANA is our mid-week children’s program. If your child is between kindergarten and 5th grade, AWANA is a great place for them. Each week, the children have a game time where they burn off their excess energy, council time where they learn about God’s Word and a time for scripture memory.

Middle School Youth Group (6 pm)

Our middle school youth group is for grades 6-8. Each week, we have a time of games, a time of learning from Scripture and an opportunity for honest conversations on topics that are relevant to our youth’s daily life. Our desire is to help our middle schoolers draw their identity from who they are in Christ, and live that out daily.

High School Youth Group (7:45 pm)

If you are in grades 9-12, this is for you. You will be able to connect with your peers around important and relevant topics and see how God’s word speaks into your world. We do this through teaching scripture, honest discussions and fellowship each week.

Bible Studies (times vary)

There are also men’s and women’s studies that occur throughout the year. If you bring your child to AWANA, we would encourage you to engage with other men or women through theses studies. You may contact the church office to learn what studies are currently being offered.
